Followed by mounting protest demonstration by the people affected by Uma Oya Multi-purpose Development Project , a three member committee led by Minister Mahinda Amaraweera was appointed by President Maithripala Sirisena to investigate the issues surrounding the Uma Oya Project .
The committee under took a field survey in Bandarawela and compiled a report . The committee report in the form of a cabinet paper is said to include proposals regarding compensation for damages sustained by houses and cultivations as well as provision of solutions for the lack of clean drinking water in the affected regions.
The report compiled by the ministerial sub-committee on the Uma Oya Project is due to be presented to the cabinet today (18).
