The Cabinet at it’s meeting held last week decided to invoke public security ordinance to inspect abandoned houses, buildings and take legal action against the legal owners , if they have neglected the requirement of keeping their premises clean and free from mosquitoes.
As the first step 40 bicycle teams will visit house to house and identify the places where garbage not removed and dengue breeding centres in premises. They will be accompanied by tri forces.They will be provided with 30 smart phones, which enable them to photograph disputable spots and produce it as an evidence on prosecution.
The cabinet approved the joint cabinet paper submitted by the Minister Law and Order Sagala Ratnayake and Minister of Local Government and Provincial Council Faizer Musthafa.
