Neville Fernando Hospital to be Named as East Colombo Teaching Hospital  & Operations Commences Today

The Neville Fernando Teaching Hospital (NFTH ) which was constructed to provide clinical training to the students of the South Asian Institute of Technology and Medicine (SAITM), was handed over to the government last month.

NFTH , which was handed over to the Government, will commence operations as a State-run hospital today (1).

Followed by taking over,  Health Minister Rajitha Senaratne has obtained Cabinet approval to appoint a governing body for the East Colombo Teaching Hospital  and former Director General of Health Services, Dr. Ajith Mendis was appointed as the Chairman.

As  from today East Colombo Teaching Hospital  will provide medical treatment and medicine free of charge to the public and the hospital will be developed .
