Govt. Accelerated Action on Corruption  Investigations Against Members of the Previous Regime

Several ministers and backbench UNPers  have been of the opinion that  the government to maintain its credibility,  that immediate action should be taken  to expedite proceedings against those persons of the previous regime ,   who had allegations of corruption levelled against them immediately. These views were reflected  at a cabinet meeting held last week.

Hence, the government has reportedly decided to expedite investigations into allegations faced by members of former President Mahinda Rajapaksa’s  family.
