The Executive Committee and the National Front of the United National Party is scheduled to meet tomorrow ( 15 ).
A group of UNP members said to have already prepared the no confidence motion against Minister of Justice Wijedasa Rajapaksa and waiting to raise the issue in the UNP meeting tomorrow. Further, they are planning to raise another issue regarding delay in prosecuting cases against members of the former regime, which has been completed by the FCID and submitted to the Attorney General for advice. They are concerned about the undue delay experienced.
UNP sources said that the party has given time till 17th to Minister of Justice Wijedasa Rajapakshe to resign from his portfolio. Thereafter, the UNP will consider bring no confidence motion against him.
As he has violated the collective responsibility of the cabinet in expressing his views against the decision of the cabinet on lease of Hambantota Habour to China, Cabinet too will call his clarification at its meeting scheduled to be held tomorrow(15)
