Any Minister Violating  Collective Responsibility of the Cabinet Should Resign

Minister of Justice Wijedasa Rajapaksa has publicly  expressed views against  cabinet decision regarding Hambantota Port.  This is a clear  violation of  collective responsibility of the cabinet. Hence, any minister who violates collective responsibility of the cabinet should resign from his portfolio, said Minister Sarath Amunugama.
Even UNP Ministers and Members of Parliament insists that Wijedasa Rajapaksa should resigned.
Meanwhile,  Minister of Regional Development Sarath Fonseka  reported to have said, if he has any self respect he should resign from his portfolio. He accused him of blocking   action being taken against the fraudsters and corrupt persons. The UNP working Committee has already condemned the conduct of Minister Wijedasa Rajapaksa, and therefore he should resign from his post immediately. Wijedasa Rajapaksa has become a stumbling  block  to the Government’s  efforts  to bring fraudsters and corrupt to book. If he resigns  investigations can be accelerated and expedited. Sarath Fonseka  has made above observations while  he was responding to a question asked from him by the media after attending an event in Kelaniya on Saturday (19).
However, Wijedasa Rajapaksa is firm  in his position that he won’t bunch and inch from his conviction  that  national  assets should not be sold to foreigners.  He said thus ‘’ All that I have to say is that I cannot agree with the selling of  national assets whether it is done under the name of selling  or leasing’’. When asked whether he would resign  he said, that he won’t resign  but it is up to the President to decide.
