Prime Minister Consults UNP MPs to Decide on Wijedasa Today

At last Thursdays (17) UNP working committee meeting a resolution was put forward by party backbenchers led by Ashu Marasinghe  stating that Minister Wijedasa actions have proven that he cannot be trusted. The resolution was unanimously passed. It was stated that they are of the view that the Minister Wijedasa  should step down from his post as minister of Justice. However, Minister Wijedasa Rajapkasa,  who was present defended his stand, which led tension  being built up  during the meeting. Wijedasa was there throughout  this 3 hour long working committee meeting,
Towards  the end  a three member committee was appointed  to report on this matter to the UNP Working Committee. Their report is expected to be presented today.
In the meantime Ranil Wickremesinghe has summoned UNP MPs for  a special meeting this afternoon at Temple Trees to take a final decision regarding minster of Justice and Buddha Sasana Wijedasa Rajapaksa.
