Parliamentary  Debate on LG Elections Act & Voting Today

The Parliament is scheduled to debate  the draft of the Local Government Elections Act today (24) and go for voting subsequently .

The  Joint Opposition (JO) Parliamentarian Dinesh Gunawardena stated that the Government has determined to introduce amendments to the draft . Although the Government had promised to present the amendments to the Parliament during the course of yesterday (23), they had not done so.

He further said that the relevant amendments would be carefully considered today (24) before deciding whether or not to support for the new draft.
