Former Navy Commander Claims Rs 500 Million Damages From New Navy Commander
Former Navy Commander Wasantha Karannagoda has sent a letter of demand claiming Rs 500 million damages from new Navy Commander Travis Sinniah. This letter of demand dated 13th August 2017 was sent through his lawyer Wasantha Wijewardane.
The letter of demand states, that the new Navy Commander Travis Sinniah has given a statement to the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) in connection with the abduction, torture , disappearance and killing of youths in Trincomalee Navy camp then. In his statement Travis Sinniah has mentioned that the former Navy Commander Wasantha Karannagoda knew very well about the murders committed in the Trinco Navy camp. This is a false statement he made to the CID damaging his character. Hence, he claimed Rs 500 million damages from the new Commander Travis Sinniah.
