Principal Sentenced to Eight Years RI for Taking Rs 25,000 Bribe

A former principal of Panadura Mahanama Navodaya College was was arrested by the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption on November 16, 2008,  while soliciting and accepting Rs 25,000 from a parent to enroll a student in the year 2008.
At the end of  the trial High Court Judge Gihan Kulatunga observed that the prosecution has proved the accused guilty beyond a reasonable doubt on two counts. Hence,  former principal Nadeeka Perera was sentenced to eight years rigorous imprisonment by the Colombo High Court yesterday(29).
Nadeeka Perera was further ordered to pay a fine of Rs.5000 on two counts.
