Ranjan Vs Bar Association

The Bar Association of Sri Lanka (BASL) has made a veil threat  on Deputy Minister Ranjan Ramanayake for  his open expression regarding  the shortcomings  observed by him  in the judicial service.

In response Ranjan Ramanayake  said  that he would request the Speaker to summon BASL officials to Parliament. He said thus  “I will also raise a privilege issue in the House and will request the Speaker to summon the officials of BASL’’.

Further he said, he would make statement in Parliament next week regarding the statement made by the Bar Association of Sri Lanka (BASL) that it will take legal action against him.

The deputy minister said he had received plenty of information on various malpractices being carried out by judicial officers and lawyers and would produce and expose  them in Courts  in the event BASL filed legal action against him.

He said he was ready for the legal battle with the BASL.
