Alcohol-free SLFP 66th Convention

The 66th anniversary of the Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP) is scheduled to be celebrated tomorrow  September 2   at  the Campbell Park in Colombo.  It is relevant to mention  that the 64th anniversary of the SLFP was held in Polonnaruwa with the participation of about 10,000 people and the 65th anniversary held in Kurunegala.

Deviating from earlier practice of allowing  Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP)  supporters consuming alcohol, President Maithripala Sirisena had strictly instructed all electoral organizers to ensure supporters gathering for  the 66th anniversary of the SLFP   to be free from consuming alcohol at or before the event .

Fisheries Minster and United People’s Freedom Alliance (UPFA) General Secretary Minister Mahinda Amaraweera while addressing a media briefing held in Colombo last  afternoon said , the 66th anniversary of SLFP would be the biggest event in the recent political history  and would also be entirely free of alcohol.
