While Wimal Wants Removal of Ministry Portfolio, Gammanpila Insists Arrest of Sarath Fonseka

Earlier MP Wimal Weerawansa made a public statement and demanded that Minister cum Field Marshal Sarath Fonseka should be stripped of his ministry portfolio, as he has made an unpatriotic statement to betray the war heroes especially former Army Commander cum former Ambassador for Srilanka in Brazil.
In a protest demonstration organized by the Joint Opposition at Kiribathgoda junction yesterday (4) at 3.30 pm, MP Gammanpila insisted that Sarath fonseka should be arrested immediately for committing treason, by making a public statement that former Army Commander Jegath Jeyasooriya has committed offences when he was in charge of the Vanni Commander and he was prepared to testify it in any court of law.This amounts to total betrayal of the country’s armed forces. How can the Army Commander made accountable for the crime committed by individual officers. They should be identified and prosecuted. This is not a new phenomenon in army. In the past there were instances those who committed crimes were prosecuted and punished under then leadership. Whoever has done a crime, he or she should be punished for the offence whether he is a civilian or an army officer, he concluded.
