The Local Government amendment bills were tabled in Parliament by Minister Faiszer Muthapha on 26th September .
Voting on the Municipal Council (Amendment) Bill, Urban Council (Amendment) Bill and Pradeshiya Sabha (Amendment) Bill took place today following the second reading debate.
All Local Government amendment bills were passed in Parliament, a short while ago.
Commencing the second reading debate on the bills today (9), Minister of Provincial Councils and Local Government Faiszer Musthapha stated that there is no need to delay the local government elections it will be held in January .
