Sarath N Silva’s Petition on PC Elections Bill to be Argued on October 19

Former Chief Justice Sarath N. Silva filed a petition on September 28, challenging the legality of the Provincial Council Elections Amendment Bill, which was recently passed in Parliament. Through this petition he has requested the court to determine that the bill was unlawful.
In the meantime two petitions against this petition have been filed in the same Supreme Court. When the case was taken up for inquiry yesterday (9),the three-member bench headed by the Chief Justice decided to take up former Chief Justice Sarath N Silva’s petition on the Provincial Council polls again on October 19.
