Rs100 Incentive Payment Per Day for School Attendance

Current school attending age is between 5 and 17, which will be revised to between 5 and 19 from next year.
Minister of Education Akila Viraj Kariyawasam has said that 452,661 students who are fit to attend schools are not attending schools. Out of this number 51,249 students have not gone to school at least one day .
In order to bring these students to schools, Rs 100 per day per student will be paid as school attendance incentive from next year. Budgetary provision will be made from next year’s budget.
Meanwhile, teachers union Joseph Stalin said, that they are against this proposal, because this project is targeting election. What they need is equal facilities should be provided to all schools to get the best education.
