100 More Wi-Fi Zones in Colombo

Colombo, Kandy, Polonnaruwa, Matara, Jaffna, Galle, and Ratnapura are among the first cities to receive the free Wi-Fi zones, which was promised by the present government before the 2015 Presidential Elections. Accordingly this facility has already been made made available in certain districts. The Office of the Prime Minister has announced that the government has initiated 100 more free Wi-Fi zones in Colombo.

The Office in a statement said, the free service would be expanded to 1000 public locations in the country. Furthermore, under the second phase, the service will be extended to 80 other locations in Colombo. In addition to the access for free internet, the designated zones will be equipped with facilities for the general public to charge their mobile units.
