Disciplinary Inquiry Against UNP Councillor Involved in Shootout With STF Ordered by PM

One person was killed while seven other suspects were arrested following a shootout between Police Special Task Force (STF) personnel and the group of men in the Henpitagedara area in Divulapitiya.It was later discovered that one of the arrested suspects is UNP Western Provincial Council member Randeer Rodrigo. The UNP leader Ranil Wickremasinghe has instructed the General Secretary of the United National Party (UNP) Kabir Hashim to carry out a disciplinary inquiry regarding the western provincial councillor, Randeer Rodrigo, who was recently arrested following a shootout with STF personnel on Monday (23). in Divulapitiya.
Police media spokesperson stated that 115 rounds of live ammunition were confiscated by Police officials who searched the residence while the wife of Randeer Rodrigo was also been taken into custody. Followed by this, the provincial councillor’s Indian wife, Harjot Kaur, has also been arrested by police and was remanded until October 31 by the Wattala Magistrate’s Court.
