Train  &Van  Collided : 2 Killed & 13  Wounded

A van collided with a train at an unprotected level crossing in Meetiyagoda, Daluwatumulla last evening, two women were killed and 13 others were wounded  and admitted to the Balapitiya Hospital . The deceased were identified residents of Meetiyagoda and Thelwatta aged 37 and 49.

The accident occurred when the van had attempted to cross the level crossing disregarding the warning by the railway gatekeeper and had collided with a special train plying from Galle to Colombo. A monk and 14 women travelling in the van were wounded  and two women who sustained critical injuries died upon admission to the Balapitiya Hospital.

The driver of the van was arrested in connection with the accident.
