1,700 Persons of the Jaffna District  Displaced

The Disaster Management Centre said, that  1,700 persons of the Jaffna District have been evacuated to safe locations due to the flooding experienced in the area following incessant rain.

Deputy Director and Media Spokesman Pradeep Koddippili said, that  all units have been informed to remain alert of possible disaster situations that may arise.

The DMC office in Jaffna informed that rainfall of 500mm was experienced in the area over the past few days due to the disturbance in the Bay of Bengal.

All Disaster Management Centre  units including the police, and the three armed forces are engaged in relief efforts.
