Rs 25,000 Fine For Specific Traffic Offences Not Operative & Changes in Paying Fine Introduced

Those who violate traffic rules are fined with different amount for different offences by police. Once fined the motorist has to make the payment at the post office within 14 days. If they fail, a case will be filed against him.

Director of the Transport Division of the Police head Quarters, Sumith Nissanka said, the period given to make fine payment within 14 days had been changed to 28 days, If they fail to pay the fine within specified period, it will be doubled with 10% tax on it. After 28 days, a case will be filed.
