Gotabhaya Files Writ Petition At Appeal Court Seeking Preventive Arrest Order

Gotabhaya Rajapaksa is under investigations for misappropriating state funds to build a memorial for  R.D.Rajapakshe,his parents. A sum of Rs. 91 million obtained for the ‘Weeraketiya Project’ of the Land Reclamation and Development Authority had been allegedly used to build the memorial for his parents.

FCID has investigated this matter and sought advice of the Attorney General.The Attorney General reported to have given green light to arrest him, media reports indicated. News of his impending arrest began to circulate this week. Politicians made their observations in the public domain. Meanwhile, according to reports his arrest was said to be blocked by President Maithripala Sirisena. Under these circumstances, former Defence Secretary Gotabhaya Rajapaksa has filed a writ petition at the Supreme Court seeking an order against his arrest today.
