One Million Compensation to Recent Disaster Victims, Who Lost Their Lives

Minister of Home Affairs Vajira Abeywardena said, that the government will make a compensation payment of Rs 1 million in respect of each fisherman, who lost his life during recent inclement weather. Already 8 fishermen from Galle have been declared lost their lives.

Minister Vajira Abeywardena made this statement to the press, while he met and paid Rs 1 lakh advance payment to relatives of the 8 victims, who lost their lives.

In addition, valuation is being done on houses and properties destroyed to consider payment of compensation. Until finalization, Rs 10,000 advance payment will be made to victims to meet their emergency needs.
