Public Nuisance Case Against Wimal Postponed to March 19

Cinemon Garden Police has a case against MP Wimal Weerawansa, charging him for causing a public nuisance by staging a protest against the arrival Prince Zeid Bin Ra’ad al-Hussein in Sri Lanka
When the case was called at the Colombo Chief Magistrate’s Court earlier today (11), Wimal Weerawansa was not present in court. The lawyer appearing on behalf of Wimal Weerawansa informed the court, that he was unable to appear court as he had to attend parliamentary sessions today.
Colombo Chief Magistrate Lal Ranasinghe Bandara ordered that MP Weerawansa was to obtain a letter from the Secretary of the parliament confirming his participation at parliamentary sessions today and to get it certified by the court. The Colombo Chief Magistrate thereby postponed the case till March 19, 2018 and requested the Kurunduwatte police
