Request to Order an Inquiry to Probe Secret Loans

Prime Minister Ranil Wickramasinghe has accused the previous government of obtaining secret loans without keeping any record of it.
In response joint opposition MP Bandula Gunawardena addressing a press conference yesterday (10) in Colombo requested the government to appoint a Parliamentary Select Committee to probe on the following matters.
  1. Secret loan obtained if any by the previous government
  2. Irregularities that took place in Central bank bond issue since the year 2008
  3. Signing on Srilankan currency notes by a non-citizen of Srilanka.
Further he said, Parliament empowers to take action in regard to State financial activities. Hence, appointment of a select committee will reveal the real position.
