Accepting nomination for 93 local bodies in 21 districts commenced yesterday (11) and continues until 14th of December. Police have deployed 10,000 personnel to ensure law and order during nomination. The first complaint related to LG polls was lodged in Arachchikattuwa.
Meanwhile, Sri Lanka Freedom Party, United National Party, and Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna handed over nominations in several districts yesterday (11). The SLFP team led by former President Chandrika Kumaratunga handed over nominations for 3 LG authorities in Gampaha .
An organization against Uma Oya Project handed over nominations for 2 LG bodies in Badulla as an independent group. JVP Uva Provincial Councillor Samantha Vidyaratne is the convener of this organization. The Sri Lanka Muslim Congress deposited bonds for 4 LG bodies in Trincomalee yesterday . The United People’s Freedom Alliance deposited bonds for Ratnapura and Galle. The United National Party placed deposits for Kalutara and Matale. The JVP deposited bonds for Gampaha and Matara yesterday. Meanwhile, Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna handed over nominations for Galnewa Pradeshiya Sabha in the Anuradhapura district and the Kinniya Kadawath Sathara Pradeshiya Sabha in the Trincomalee district yesterday.
