The All Island Rice Manufactures Association (AIRMA) President Mudith Perera addressing a press conference yesterday said, that due to drought the government has decided to import rice. But the decision taken by the government to import rice has led to the closing down of 99 percent of small and medium scale rice mills within Sri Lanka.
Large scale traders were instrumental to destroy small and medium scale entrepreneurship in Sri Lanka. The unwise decision taken by the government to import more rice will have an impact on farmers. he said.
