A/L Communication & Media Studies New Syllabus Suspended

The National Institute of Education introduced new syllabuses for all Advanced Level subjects under the new subject curricular which was introduced in 2015. A number of Teachers’ Associations have opposed the introduction of the new syllabus and its contents on several occasions due to the shortcomings that exist in the new syllabus.

Meanwhile, the Academic Affairs Board appointed by the National Institute of Education on a directive given by the subject Minister has recommended to suspend newly introduced syllabus for Advanced Level Communication and Media Studies. Accordingly, the Educational Secretary had given directives to hold the 2019 Advanced Level Communication and Media Studies subject under the old syllabus.

The Secretary to the Ministry of Education said, steps have been taken to send the circular to Provincial Educational secretaries and schools.
