Incessant Rain Compelled to Open Three Spill Gates of Upper Kotmale Dam Today

Due to rising water levels caused by incessant rain to the central region of the country irrigation engineers were compelled to open three spill gates of the upper Kotmale dam earlier today (20).

Engineers have warned all residents downstream of the Kotmale oya reservoir to be vigilant of flash floods that may be caused by the remaining spill gates automatically opening.
