Govt. To Construct  More New Flyovers Around Colombo And Kandy- PM

While on an inspection visit made by Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe to Rajagiriya flyover yesterday (21), he said an additional flyover will be constructed in Rajagiriya as a continuation project .

 Ranil Wickremasinghe says a new flyover will be constructed from the Kelaniya Bridge to Colombo Fort. Premier pointed out heavy traffic congestion hindered economic development of the country.

Prime Minister Wickremesinghe also said in order to reduce the traffic congestion short term; midterm and long term plans should be composed.

The Premier mentioned the government’s attempt is not to construct roads alone, but to construct roads according to a stringent plan.

Accordingly the government has planned to construct a road network from Kandy to Hambantota.

Meanwhile the government is also planning to execute a number of plans in future with the intention of reducing traffic congestion experienced in areas around Colombo and Kandy.
