Gazette Notification Empowering EC in Case of Postal Strike or Other Forms of Threat to Hold LG Election.

Chairman of the Election Commission, Mahinda Deshapriya speaking said, that a gazette notification will be issued today in connection with the upcoming local government election. This gazette notification will be to pave way for alternate action to be taken in case, if there are threats to holding the election.

Deshapriya said the gazette will note steps that should be taken in the event of a strike by postal workers.
