A protest campaign against the South Asian Institute of Technology and Medicine (SATIM) was scheduled to be conducted today by the Medical Faculty Students’ Action Committee, Inter University Students Federation and the Medical Faculty Students’ Parents Association.
However the Fort and Gangodawila Magistrates Courts yesterday issued a restraining order against the conduct of any such protest.
In the meantime, the Police Headquarters said due to the announcement of an election period, all rallies or parades will be prohibited within the Colombo City limits today.
Police Media Spokesperson Superintendent of Police Ruwan Gunasekara said any persons or groups found to be in violation of the regulation will face legal action.
