Overseas Govt Failed to Extradite Udayanga as No Charges Proved Against Him– Namal

Joint Opposition and Sri Lanka Freedom Party Hambantota District Parliamentarian Namal Rajapaksa  lashed out the FCID for the failure to get the extradition of former Lankan Envoy to Russia, Udayanga Weeratunga. This is because they were not allowed to do so by Interpol and the officials in the United Arab Emirates, as no charges had been levelled and proved against him.

He said that the incident had further proved that though the Financial Crimes Investigation Division (FCID) could hound people in this country, they were not able to undertake such tasks overseas.

Rajapaksa claimed that the officials who had been sent to Dubai to get the extradition of the former diplomat had been forced to return to Colombo empty handed. Sarcastically he questioned whether public funds were misappropriated in order to send them to the United Arab Emirates.
