The Election Commissioner Focus on Women Representation Limitation in the Local Councils

Chairman of Election Commission Mahinda Deshapriya met with Speaker Karu Jayasuriya at the Parliamentary Complex yesterday. Mahinda Deshapriya informed the speaker, if the necessity arise  that some amendments  would be taken in the 25% women representation limit in the local Councils.

Further he had also requested the Speaker to inform about it to the Constitutional Assembly, which is scheduled to meet next week. In the meantime, the Speaker had asked the Election Commissioner to send a report related to it.
