Colombo Fort Chief Magistrate Lanka Jayaratne has issued summons to Arjuna Mahendran, who didn’t attend court. A fresh summon was issued requiring him to be present in Sri Lanka and in Courts on 8 March, and if he does not comply, the AG’s Department would get the Colombo Fort Magistrate to issue an arrest warrant for Mahendran, which will be channelled through Interpol.
The Attorney General’s Department sought the services of the Interpol to deliver summons. But the Interpol has refused to deliver the summons, issued by the Colombo Magistrate’s Court, to former Central Bank Governor Arjuna Mahendran, who is now in Singapore. The Interpol informed AG’s department that delivering documents was not their mandate.
The AG’s Department has now sent the summons to Mahendran’s Singapore address through DHL courier service and also by express Air Mail. AG’s department top source added that it has now been confirmed that Mahendran lived at the address that the AG’s Department had been in possession of.
