The political crisis took a new turn last night in Sri Lanka , when Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe told President Maithripala Sirisea in no uncertain terms, that he would only leave the position if the opposition managed to defeat him in a no-confidence motion in Parliament . Since he commands the full support of the UNP, which holds highest number of seats in parliament, he had no reason to step down from his position he said.
