While speaking Media in Colombo SLPP Chairman Prof. G. L. Peiris said, a date for submitting the no-confidence motion against Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe has not yet been decided on.
The no-confidence motion was to be presented to Parliament last Tuesday but the JO decided to postpone it purportedly in view of ethnic violence.
He said that several politicians in the UNP had requested more time to pledge their support for the no-confidence motion.
It was not about the date on which it would be submitted to Parliament but about its success. Therefore, it would take some time to get the support of the majority. When asked whether Joint Opposition (JO) had decided to let Prime Minister Wickremesinghe be in his position till the end of 2020, Prof. Peiris said that if he stayed as the PM that long there would be no country left for the next government to take over.
