The Working Group on the Universal Periodic Review, established in accordance with the Human Rights Council resolution 5/1 on Sri Lanka, will table its report before the UN Human Rights Council today.
The report will be tabled during the 37th regular session of the council.
The 37th regular session of the United Nations Human Rights Council got underway last month and will conclude on the 23rd of March in Geneva, Switzerland.
Accordingly, the report adopted by the Working Group on Sri Lanka will be deliberated during the session.
In the meantime, UN High Commissioner is scheduled to deliver a separate report on Sri Lanka on the same day.
The government co-sponsored a resolution which mandates a accountability mechanism for alleged violations of international humanitarian law committed during the conflict with the LTTE.
