Hearing of Lasantha’s Murder Case  Again Today

The former Chief Editor of the Sunday Leader, Lasantha Wickremetunga was murdered in Attidiya, Mount Lavinia while on his way to work on the 8th of January 2009. This murder case was shelved during the previous regime. After the good governance government came to power, again it was taken up . But it was dragged on for a long time, which may be  due to difficulty in collecting evidences suppressed earlier.

Accordingly former Deputy Inspector General of Police Prasanna Nanayakkara and the Officer in Charge of the Mount Lavinia Police Crimes Division Tissa Sugathapala, who were arrested and remanded on charges of concealing evidence in the case are due to be produced before court today.

The  murder case of veteran journalist and Chief Editor of the Sunday Leader newspaper Lasantha Wickremetunga is scheduled to be taken up for hearing once again today.
