Minister Rishad takes action to build 6 apparel factories in Welioya and Musali

Under an initiative taken by the Minister of Industries and Commerce Mr. Rishad Bathiudeen, the government is to build three factories each in the districts of Mulativu and Mannar for the manufacture of Apparel and Apparel products.

Minister Bathiudeen has pointed out to the government that although there are several investors willing to invest in apparel and apparel manufacture in the area they are reluctant to make infrastructure and hence it has become necessary for the government to make the initial investment and build the factories for which the Cabinet has given the approval.

The Minister has also pointed out that a survey carried out has revealed that over 2,500 youth are prepared to employ in the apparel industry and about 500 youth have already gained experience in the field through employment in apparel industries and factories outside these areas.

Accordingly the government will construct three buildings each in the Welioya and Musali Divisional Secretary Divisions and allocate these buildings to prospective investors on a long term lease basis to recover the expenditure incurred by the government for the construction of these buildings.
