Second Session of the 8th Parliament to Commence Today
The second session of the 8th Parliament is due to commence today (8).
The Ceremonial Opening of the Second Session of the Eighth Parliament will be held under the patronage of President Maithripala Sirisena at 2.15 this afternoon where the Head of State will address Parliament and table the policy statement of the government.
A ceremony to welcome the President and the Prime Minister is also due to get underway at the Parliamentary Complex before the commencement of the new Parliamentary session.
In the meantime, a special debate on the policy statement will be held on Thursday which was decided at a party leaders meeting previously.
