Dayan Jayatilake To be the Srilankan Ambassador to Russia 

The position of ambassador to Russia remains vacant for several months now after Dr. Saman Weerasinghe completed his tenure.

Former permanent representative to the United Nations Dr. Dayan Jayatilake to be appointed as new ambassador to Russia, President Maithripala Sirisena said to have been  decided.

He was also a leading activist of ‘Eliya’, led by Gotabhaya Rajapaksa against constitutional proposals of the present government.

According to foreign ministry sources, Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe has not objected to this appointment.
