Election Commission Rules Swearing of Maharagama Councilors Legal….

Six members of the SLPP including former Chairman Kanthi Kodikara   have taken oath as members of the Maharagama Urban Council in place of six independent councilors resigned yesterday. Certain other members of the council opposed to it had walked out.

The Election Commissioner said that the appointments  were made in accordance with the provisions in the Local Government Law No 16 of 2017. Hence, there is no obstacle for them to function as councillors.
