A Senior Immigration & Emigration Officer Arrested With Gold At BIA

A senior Immigration and Emigration officer in possession of 60 gold biscuits worth 36 million rupees has been arrested at the Bandaranaike International Airport. The stock of gold weighs 6 kilograms. The suspect was arrested by the Airport Customs around 11.30 last night following a tip off by the Airport Security Division.
According to the Immigration and Emigration officer the stock of gold belonged to a foreign national who sought his help to smuggle the gold past the Airport Customs.
The 50 year old suspect is resident of Kolonnawa. Further investigations are being conducted by the Airport customs.
