Teachers and Principals On Sick Leave

Several trade unions representing school teachers, principals and administration officers have decided to stage a trade union action today (04) against the appointments given in the field of educational services to alleged victims of political revenge.

This strike will be carried out by 11 unions including the Sri Lanka Education Administrative Service Officers’ Union, Sri Lanka Teacher Educational Service Officers’ Union, Lanka Teachers’ Union and the Lanka Teacher Services Union.

Discussions held with the Prime Minister at his office yesterday (3) have failed. Hence, they resorted to trade union action.
