“UPFA and UNP still engaged in Blame Game” – Fazl Muhammad Nizar

“UPFA and UNP still engaged in Blame Game” – Fazl Muhammad Nizar

The Liberal Party (LP) yesterday evening claimed that the United National Party (UNP) and the United People’s Freedom Alliance (UPFA) had been repeating the same accusations at election meetings to condemn their competitors aiming upcoming General Election.

Putting forward its manifesto which had identified some major issues of the country, LP Colombo District Candidate Muhammed Fazl Nizar emphasized that the LP would be a better platform for people which could fulfill their real needs if his party is elected.

“We believe Sri Lanka’s election is like a circus. All political parties try to accuse the opposition without correcting their own faults. We already knew these systems and that is why we supported the election of Maithripala Sirisena as the President last January,” Fazl stated.

He added that the UPFA was still marketing the war victory and Central Bank Treasury bond (CB) scam and the UNP was still accusing the Rajapaksa regime over white elephant projects and some other frauds.

Adding further, Mr. Fazl Nizar pointed out that the LP would contest separately for four districts along with Colombo in the forthcoming general election.

“We have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the UNP. We will be siding with President Sirisena in the country’s interest. However, we will contest independently as the LP for the upcoming election,” Fazl stressed.

Elaborating further about its manifesto, he stated that it had identified 25 major issues of the country relating to health, education, transportation and human rights and had come up with solutions.

“We have recognized some big issues which have been affecting the country in last several years. We think that we have suggested better solutions for them,” Fazl added.

The LP is also looking at redesigning the national flag with one colour and a less violent animal or a flower. Setting up an independent accountability mechanism for crimes committed in the 1971-2014 time period, preventing the disconnection of the water supply, subsidizing luxury A/C buses for cost effective transportation, establishment of regulatory bodies to private hospitals, and reintroduction of the Halal requirement are of the some main proposals outlined of the LP manifesto.
