Possibility for afternoon thundershowers is high today

(FASTNEWS|COLOMBO) – The possibility for afternoon thundershowers is high, particularly in Western, Sabaragamuwa, North-western, Central, Uva and Southern provinces during today and tomorrow (17th and 18th March), the Department of Meteorology stated.

Showers or thundershowers will occur in Western, Sabaragamuwa, North-western, Central, Southern and Uva provinces and in Anuradhapura, Mannar and Vauniya districts after 2.00p.m.

Several spells of light showers will occur in Eastern coastal areas, Uva province and in Hambanthota and Polonnaruwa districts.

Severe lightning activities are also possible in Western, Sabaragamuwa, Central and Northwestern provinces and in Galle and Matara districts.

Heavy falls about 100 mm can be expected at some places in Western, Sabaragamuwa, North-western and Central provinces and in Galle and Matara districts.
