Communist Party Decides To Remain Independent in Parliament

The Communist Party of Sri Lanka decided to remain independent in the next Parliament; its General Secretary DEW Gunasekara told media.

This decision was taken by the party Central Committee yesterday.

The Communist Party was a partner of the UPFA in the recent parliamentary election. One of its members, Chandrasiri Gajadheera, was elected to the Parliament.

Gajadheera obtained 54,251 preferential votes from Matara District.

Accordingly, Gajadheera will remain as an independent MP in the next parliament.
