Three arrested with 12,000 kgs of Dust Tea

(FASTNEWS | COLOMBO) – Three suspects have been arrested in possession of 12,160kgs of dust tea in Kandegoda, Ambalangoda.

The raid was carried out by a group of Police Special Task Force Officers and officials of the Sri Lanka Tea Board.

Two of the suspects were initially arrested transporting 3,750kgs of dust tea via a lorry, following which another suspect in possession 8,410 kgs of dust tea was arrested subsequent to questioning the two initial suspects.

The two suspects aged 52 and 27 are residents of Grandpass and Ambalangoda.

The suspects are scheduled to be produced before the Balapitiya Magistrate’s Court today, while the Ambalangoda Police are conducting further investigations.
