“Tamil & Muslim citizens always backed the UNP” – Mangala

(FASTNEWS | COLOMBO) – Minister of Finance Mangala Samaraweera says Tamil and Muslim communities have always supported the United National Party (UNP).

Speaking to media in Weligama, Minister Samaraweera rejected assertions made by opposition factions that Minister Sajith Premadasa reached ‘secret agreements’ with the Tamil National Alliance (TNA) and other Muslim parties, in order to win the 2019 Presidential Election.

He said the UNP has been at the forefront in ensuring a harmonious country and therefore minorities have been supportive of the agenda carried out by the present administration.

The Minister added although the TNA had not taken up posts in the present government, all Parliamentarians who represent the North and East, have been working with the good governance government to take forward the present administration’s agenda.
